Today was a planned rest day. I spent the early part of the morning updating the blogs and catching up with family. It was nice to have good access to net rent again, heh.
Later in the day we rode up to the bus station, but he ticket offices were closed and we’d have to try our luck in the morning. The latest plan is of us to take transport to some place ins southern Laos and spend a while riding there. There are some interesting places to visit and I suppose getting a few days of proper riding would put us back in the groove after the start stop affair that was Myanmar.
We met 2 touring cyclists, one English-Dutch guy who is scouring e place for good. Routes and another English cyclist, Phil, who is finishing his year plus tour. We had good chats and afterwards we walked out looking for Day, the guy who helped us at the immigration.
We found Day in his home, we was really chill chap with some serious knowledge about the local mountains and wildlife. The conversation with him was really enjoyable and when I am back in Kanchanaburi, I am sure I’d sucker him to join on a nice multi day trek around is region.
Day suggested that we should take a train instead, given we are carrying bikes and we figured its a good idea. So it’s going to be up early in the morning to catch the 7am to Bangkok.

Comments: the Main Street of Kanchanaburi is everything I have come to detest about tourist places. But there is so much more to this place. Tons of beautiful mountains with jungles to get lost into.
