On the circuit

F1 fever is hitting a high note. This the race weekend and final preparations of the track are underway. My riding route passes through most of the race track and over the past few weeks, things have been taking shape, lights, barriers, now kerbs are in place. Yesterday most of the roads were closed in the evening and I had to find my way across. The funny part was that I managed to get inside the confines of the circuit but could not find a way out on the other end.

Inquiries led me nowhere and someone suggested I walk through the underpass (where is the foldie when I want it :) ). Luckily, some parts of the circuit were not fully secured, I guess for people to walk in and take pictures. I managed to get out and follow along a couple of non traditional paths and rejoined my regular commute route.

When I was in the circuit, I could not help but snap my racer(ahem!) in the track. Looks more like a pick up if you ask me…

K: Of course, everyday :) The track is laid out on my regular commuting route… So have been observing the progress of the preparations over the past few months.

PC: Not easy to bump into Drivers :( But I did catch him in action today. Kimi might have a decent chance this weekend.

Nat, I had to go to Mandarin Oriental for a wedding dinner last nite when the F1 was in full swing. It took me 2 hrs by bus/train to get there no thanks to the massive jams.

If I cycled there, max 40 mins from my home. However, it would be quite a challenge to bike there w a suit without looking half-drown in sweat in this oppressive heat.

Would have been a noisy ceremony, Yea.

Traffic was pretty darn bad. Last couple of evenings, I had to discover new routes around the track to head back home…

I really wished the weather here were milder. It would be really cool to head to a wedding dinner on the Tikit eh :)

what I really want to see is a picture of that bike after the convoy of F1 cars have all taken turns to run over it.

I lost an argument with one of the marshalls about jaywalking on the morning of the race. I should have showed him this.
