We already have bike lanes
Yehuda moon & the kickstand cyclery is a nice comic strip that I follow regularly. For a strip comic, it is not always funny with punch lines but it is like a documentary of cyclists lives and makes sense if you follow along the story. Sometimes, the comic rambles along and you have to wait a few days to get a nice bit of insight into the characters lives. Sometimes, the humor is very spot on and other times, the message is direct on the face. Like this strip.
Really, the truth is that for most of us not cycling in Europe, Japan or Portland, the reality is that the government is never going to invest too heavily on cycle lanes. It is understandable from a urban planner point of view when there is not enough demand. Discussions on why there are not enough cyclists vs lack of infrastructure is long drawn and without conclusions. But for the rest of us who just want to get from one place to another, we already have cycle lanes – they are called roads
Hop on to your steed and enjoy the ride.
